2023 Polar Bear Plunge

The Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge is a fundraising event in which individuals pledge $100.00 or more for the chance to plunge into the Chesapeake Bay in February in support of 4,340 Special Olympics athletes who train and compete year-round throughout Maryland. Plungers will have the option to Plunge virtually or in-person again this year.
In-Person Plunge
Bear the cold! Join us for a day of live music, entertainment, and plunging into the Chesapeake Bay with your friends and family in support of Special Olympics Maryland!
Virtual Plunge
Virtual Plungers are encouraged to participate as an individual or with their colleagues. As a Virtual Plunger, you will fundraise and receive our 2023 Plunge sweatshirt and the ability to be creative and film your own Plunge in your location of choice!
